LOOK WHO's TWO

Two years ago today, we welcomed our precious second child into this world. Our first little man is, as I have said many times, "ALL BOY". He is precious, mischievous, fearless, and an acrobat all rolled into a bean pole of energy. I say bean pole because he is tall and slender; he's roughly 35 inches tall and 29lbs. His vocabulary is wonderful and he often repeats any word you say to him. He really enjoys playing with puzzles, mega blocks, and throwing the ball. He loves to sing and dance, especially with his sister. He has a helpful and giving side to him in that he loves to feed his dogs, help pick up toys, water the plants and is great at sharing. While he is steadily becoming independent, he is also still riding the heels of the terrible two's and being defiant. He follows his sister around, allows wants to play with what she has and taunts her...but at the end of the day they give each other hugs and kisses. Here's to our little/big guy and a super SECOND birthday! We love you to the moon and back!

Stats

Interesting stats about our family:
All three kiddos were born on a Friday. Z @ 3:35am, B @ 6:30pm, A @ 9:38pm

Both girls in the family have single, odd digit birthdays. M the 7th, B the 5th.

All boys in the family have double, even digit birthdays. D the 24th, Z the 20th, and A the 10th.

At a week old, Alex is in 50th percentile for all his measurements; weight 6lb 9oz, length 20.5", and head circ 13.75 cm. He is doing great; eating like a champ, sleeping like crazy, and staying alert long enough to be observant and get to know his sister and brother. I'm healing nicely. Of course there are aches and pains that are extremely ouchy as well as being very tired, but overall the c-section recovery is not that bad.

Home Sweet Home

Baby Alex and I came home yesterday afternoon from a very nice and quiet 3 day stay in the hospital after my Friday night C-section. The hospital staff was very nice and attentive when they could be. The hospital was so busy delivering babies this weekend that I was actually in triage for 24 hours before getting my own room; talk about mommy and baby overflow. Friday morning at my weekly appointment my OB jinxed herself by asking me not to go into labor because the hospital was so packed. After 4 hours of contractions 20 minutes apart that started at 1pm, I finally called her and told her that it was her own fault; that I was having contractions and there was no stopping them this time. In the 2.5 hours from the time I talked to her and we got settled into our triage space the contractions were 6 minutes apart. We were in the OR an hour later having Alex beautifully scream into the world. He is handsome, mellow and is almost a spitting image of Zach when he was born. I cannot wait to see how his face changes in the next month.

Brother and sister have 2 completely different takes on baby brother. Zach is timid and unsure of what he is. It is adorable when he says "Alexander", but I don't quite think he cares to understand he is a little person. Bella on the other hand cannot get enough of looking and oggling at him, she is smitten.

Thank you to Gigi for being here the last few days, it would have been impossible without you.
Thank you to Rev Janie for stopping by several times and praying with our precious addition.
Thank you to everyone else for the flowers, edible arrangements, visits and most of all prayers.

Many blessings and love to you all!

Alexander Charles Delange

Last night August 10th at 9:38 pm we were blessed with the arrival of our 3rd little bundle of joy. Alexander Charles came into this world screaming and full of vigor at 7lbs 1oz and 20 inches long. Machel and Alex are resting and doing wonderfully. Thank you to everyone for all of the calls, emails and texts. We are truly blessed to have such an amazing network of family and friends. Enjoy the pictures and when Machel feels better I am sure that she will detail for you the coming of our 2nd little man.
