1) Bella's liver is still very premature and too small to process correctly,
2) The extended use of TPN caused scarring (the minor liver damage) that prohibits good flow of bilirubin, and
3) Her daily bilirubin is not flowing out properly due to the dump of particles that created a sluge after switching to breast milk.
As a result they have started her on a new medicine called phenabarb. They are going to monitor her closely over the next few days to see if this helps. A hydascan has been scheduled for the 16th in case her blood screenings do not show reduced levels.

Hooray for being done with CPAP ... so long to that cumbersome headgear!! Go, Bella!!
I agree with Lauren, the CPAP is definately not our choice of hats for the little princess!
