Baby Bella Day 90

Breast milk has been started! Isabella started back on milk at noon with 20mL (2/3 of an ounce). So far she has done well, very little residuals at the next feeding. And to boot, she is up to 2520 grams or 5lb 9oz. That is just crazy to us. In conjunction with the good eating, Bella has had several small diapers, which is great because she has not needed any suppositories. The other great thing is that the IV on the left side of her head has lasted all day. Gilda said tonight that if the IV ends up having to come out tomorrow that they will not place another one and stop the TPN. However, Bella did keep Mommy on her toes for a while. Of course with everything she's been through and being so close to being discharged, the last thing you want is for her to have a set back. Since yesterday her temperature has been low and her oxygen absorption has been all over the place, not constant like it had been since Sunday. Often times these are signs that a baby is getting sick in some way. In addition, she slept all day, which also is an indicator that they don't have enough energy to be alert do to fighting off something. I made the comment to several nurses just to make them aware of what I thought. Hopefully tomorrow she will be very lively. Gilda also made an interesting observation last night, after having her for 3 nights. She said that when Bella sleeps she is absolutely out and nothing phases her. Gilda did a heal stick on Bella this morning for labs and Bella did not even budge from her sleep. But the flip side is that when she is awake she is all over the place...now who does that sound like...HER DADDY!!! Boy, am I going to have my hands full.

I got the following passage out of a book titled Lent and Easter, forwarded to me by Stephanie Luna (thanks for sharing so often).

Matthew 7:7-11
Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches, finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Bella looks really good and plump. Sounds like you will be busy keeping up with her later on at home. But that's the good news. LUV M
