There are several small victories to report for the day! Feeding started at 2pm this afternoon of which she will continue to get 2mL every 3 hours...WOOHOO! (Man am I happy for that, maybe my stock pile will start to dwindle soon.) There was a drainage tube that they placed at her incision after surgery yesterday which they removed during the morning. That is good because there was minimal fluid to drain from the incision area. With the removal of the tube they stopped the antibiotic that she was on. Also, her pain medication was cut in half from yesterday, but will take a full month to ween completely. They also weened her vent settings from a rate of 40 breaths per minute to 38. We did see some desaturation in her oxygen absorption tonight, but are thinking that it is related to the vent changes. The desats were not bad dips and we are sure that she is still pretty tired from the events of yesterday. But then again, it could be the constant squirming and flinging of her limbs that initiates the desats as well. As for swelling, it is NO where near what it was last time; her chest area seems to be just slightly inflamed.
Our precious baby girl is such a fighter and we are so proud of her. It is an amazing feeling to be able to stare at her, hold her little hand and tell her what a great job she is doing. At the same time I can picture chasing her around the house, having tickle attacks, and playing airplane on daddy's legs. I feel so blessed to be able to share these moments with her. I was actually able to print some pictures tonight and put them in the albums that Lindsay and Heather sent (thank you!). Even at this point it is great to see how far she has come; she has crossed and surpassed many hurdles.

Great job, Isabella. Honestly, these micro-preemies are the toughest fighters in the world. Olivia still has quite a bit of her feistiness and I love every minute of it. I'm so happy to hear Isabella is doing well.

Enjoy your stock pile of liquid gold. I too, had one of these until the freezer it was stored in stopped working!:(
Very sad day, especially since I was already back at work and had stopped pumping. I had enough for two more months; but we had to go straight to formula (AHHHH!all that hard work!)
