Baby Bella Day 12
Today has been another trying day for us. This morning we went in and saw our little baby and were greeted with news about both her bowels and PDA. First her bowel looks like it is perforated and some fluid is leaking and possible stool, which can lead to infections. Her belly is bloated and a small area is turning a light shade of blue. Her PDA is being tested again and they think surgery may be the best option now and they want to schedule it next Monday. It all seems like a hurricane is hitting all at once. She was going along just fine and then boom a big storm of problems. On the positive side though, she has gained some more weight and is now heavier than when she was born. She is up to 1lb 12.5oz, and her breathing continues to be stable and she is still active and responsive to stimulus. But she does become more irritated when she is handled and her O2 saturation falls whenever she is touched. We are heading back up there to see her and pray with her. Hopefully the doctors will be able to give us some good news soon! They are doing an amazing job talking to us and helping her, we truly are thankful that we had her here at the UVA facilities, but we miss home a lot! Well, just wanted to give a quick update, we will report back in with more later. Please remember to love and cherish the moments that you spend with your loved ones, they are very special! Thank you for the prayers and may the Lord be with you all!

Being your brother its hard for me to read this everyday and not jump on the phone. But it is a blessing to keep updated. She is going to have her ups and downs, what little advice I can offer is just to keep the love flowing, rolls with the tides, and pray.
I miss you guys, and can't wait to see my new niece.
Love and Hugs, lots O' Hugs...

I know it is difficult and hurtful to have such a precious and very little baby, that you love so much, having problems and who may perhaps have surgery. What I can tell you is that our family preemie baby, Emma, had similar problems. And she did have surgery, but she came thru strong and fine. They are so little but still so strong and have such a will to live. I have no doubt Baby Bella is the same and will be fine also. You and Bella have such a strong support group with many prayers behind you. I can only send you my love and tell you that I am thinking of you everyday and saying prayers. Take care of yourself and know that we are all behind you. Much love, Marilyn
Machel,
Got your comment on the blog; thanks for writing. Yes, I check on Bella 10x/day! I am so happy for you all that she is doing so well.

Be strong Bella! Keep fighting..This is part of the roller coaster ride...The "honeymoon" period is over and the roller coaster ride is being. Don't be afraid to lean on whoever is closest. The power of prayer is more then you realize. We love and pray for you everyday.
